Activities and Attractions - Portsmouth & Gosport

    gosport town crest

Whether it’s a day trip, short break, week-end stopover or to enjoy a longer stay, there’s so much to enjoy and keep you busy in our Borough.

Explore the fascinating history and heritage of our museums or our extensive Waterfront with its sailing, windsurfing, jet skis and rib rides.

Board a boat for a trip round-the-harbour or out into the Solent, a sailing mecca with its views of the Isle of Wight and unique forts built to defend us against the French invaders!

Discover Gosport: There are plenty of places for a peaceful walk, or you can stroll through the Alver Valley Country Park with its thriving wildlife. Why not go sea fishing, or play adventure golf? Stokes Bay is only a short walk away and offers views of the Isle of Wight. It is part of the longest continuous shingle beach in England, which stretches from Lee on the Solent to Portsmouth Harbour Entrance.

Play golf by the sea at Gosport and Stokes Bay Golf Club

Bring your own boat and sail at Stokes Bay Sailing Club or there are many local yacht charter and sail training companies.

On a smaller scale Gosport Model Yacht and Boat Club is very active and fun to watch.

If you're looking wider than the Gosport and Portsmouth area the Visit South East England website has more ideas.

    Haslar Marina

Haslar Marina is a modern purpose-built marina situated in a superb location within Portsmouth Harbour, just minutes from open water in the Solent. Located in Haslar Creek (Gosport) and protected by a large wave screen, the marina offers sheltered berthing with no tidal restrictions.

    Royal Navy Submarine Museum Gosport

Let former submariners walk you through where they would work, eat and sleep onboard HMS Alliance. Peer into the only surviving X-craft to have seen action during the Second World War and climb inside the Royal Navy's first submarine Holland 1.

The submarine museum is only a few minutes walk from the two properties.

And for more maritime heritage visit the Diving Museum at Stokes Bay and Explosion! The Museum of Naval Firepower.

    The Solent Way

The properties are situated on the Solent Way; if you've enjoyed this long distance walk, why not return for a more leisurely exploration of Gosport and Portsmouth, basing your stay in one of our self catering holiday homes?
